LGBTQA+ Health and Wellbeing in Australia: Current State and Future Directions
Abstract
This plenary will describe the current state of health and wellbeing for Australian LGBTQA+ youth and adults, drawing from the Rainbow Realities report commissioned by the Federal Department of Health and Aged Care in 2023. We explore how social and demographic factors influence health and wellbeing for LGBTQA+ people, with a focus on the importance of understanding diversity within the LGBTQA+ community. We will take a strengths-based approach to consider how our data can inform public health practice and policy in Australia and describe future plans for research in this area.
