Tuesday, April 29, 2025
7:50 AM - 8:50 AM
Federation Ballroom North

Details

As of December 2024, there are now four specialist Health Promotion/Preventive Health Agencies at Jurisdictional level in Australia, with the legislation to establish Preventive Health SA passing the South Australian parliament. As of April 2025 there will be four women leading these agencies in the CEO role, three of whom being been in the role for less than 6 months. Meanwhile two jurisdictions (ACT and Tasmania are revising/renewing their Preventive Health Strategies. And one (NSW) undergoing a Commission examining health funding. In all three cases a new Preventive Health or Health Promotion Agency should be considered in the mix. Meanwhile the National Preventive Health Strategy sits in the background with an uncertain future. Now is a key time for the development of prevention in Australia. This late breaking session will create the chance for leaders in Prevention to discuss the priorities and challenges they see in their organisations, and to engage in some dialogue with other leaders in the field as to what the future of prevention might hold. Please note: Breakfast will NOT be served. Session chair: Adjunct Professor Terry Slevin, PHAA CEO Panellists: - Adjunct Professor Robyn Littlewood, CEO Health and Wellbeing Queensland  - Ms Carina Tan Van Baren, Executive Director of Healthway - WA Health Promotion Foundation - Ms Marina Bowshall, CEO Preventive Health SA - Professor Anna Peeters, CEO VicHealth
